Disney In The Square
Cleveland Public Square/Group Plan Commission partners with Disney On Ice for a giveaway.
Jumping Into Contract Digital Marketing:
In December 2022, I embarked on my journey as a digital marketing contractor. My first client was Group Plan Commission, also known as Cleveland Public Square Programming and Operations. This opportunity unfolded after my prior experiences as an event staff and a digital marketing intern.
The Exciting Partnership:
Within weeks of taking on my new position, we partnered with Disney On Ice for its highly-anticipated Frozen & Encanto performance at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Disney gave us a handful of tickets to give away, generating buzz around the performances.
The Buzzworthy Giveaway:
We decided to host a dynamic social media contest for our promotional strategy. With my previous giveaway experience at Greg Murray Photography, I coordinated the contest. The rules of the contest were simple:
Rule #1: Follow @CLEPublicSquare on at least one social media platform.
Rule #2: Share a holiday photo taken in Cleveland Public Square. With recent winter festivities like ice skating, Santa In The Square, caroling, the annual tree and menorah lighting ceremonies, and jazz music, to name a few, participants had a rich selection of activities to share.
Rule #3: Tag us @CLEPublicSquare in your post, allowing us to find entries easily.
Rule #4: Entries must include the hashtag #DisneyInTheSquare to connect the content to the event and generate chatter around the performance.
The Family-Friendly Prizes:
Our giveaway had one grand prize and four runner-ups:
Grand Prize Winner: Five Ice-skating tickets for the Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink, five tickets to Disney On Ice’s Frozen and Encanto performance, and $50 gift cards to Dunkin’ Donuts and REBoL.
Runner-Ups: Each runner-up received four tickets to Disney On Ice’s dazzling performance of Frozen and Encanto.
The Multi-Channel Promotion:
To optimize visibility, we embraced an omnichannel digital marketing approach for the contest, allowing us to reach our audience on multiple channels:
Social Media: We utilized Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to promote the giveaway. Sharing Diseny’s assets, we designed engaging graphics and videos for each post.
Word of Mouth: The word spread beyond our existing audience as contestants shared their entries featuring our park.
Email: Our email captured the magical experience the performance promised, featuring captivating visuals provided by Disney. Each image acted as a section break to improve readability.
Website: During our promotional period, we shared vital giveaway information on our website, which generated over 830 views and became one of our most-viewed posts.
The Successful Outcome:
As the promotion wrapped up, we received over forty contestant entries. Our team carefully selected five winners and messaged them directly. We also showcased the entries on our social channels and website. Many winners continued sharing their magical experiences on social media, creating further buzz through engaging and exciting content.

Welcome to Summer In The Square! This project features a promotional video created to encourage residents to visit The Square. The video showcases content I captured between June 17 and 23, 2022. The video highlights The Square's exciting events, attractions, and atmosphere, making it a must-visit summer destination.


Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink
As a digital marketing contractor for Group Plan Commission/Cleveland Public Square Programming and Operations, I had the opportunity to promote the Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink through various marketing strategies. One of my responsibilities included creating weekly graphics listing the rink's hours and ensuring the public was informed and engaged with this exciting new attraction in Cleveland.

Experience the magic of the holidays at Santa in The Square. Cleveland Public Square comes alive with festive décor, lights, and the chance to meet Santa himself. I promoted this project through copywriting and graphic design as a digital marketing contractor, bringing the joy of Cocoa with Santa to the city's heart.
